A Changing Future for Students

Students have always struggled with career direction and many times choose a career based on income or a job title that appeals to them. They get little helpful information from family or the education system. Workshop attendees over the years have confirmed that only about 15% are doing work they thought they would be engaged in when they graduated from high school or college. The vast majority has changed their career direction due to a lack of satisfaction or success in their chosen field. Many of today's vocational and tech schools have a median age at just above 30 which points to the wasted time going from job to job that could have been avoided with better career information in the beginning.

Well meaning parents often compound the problem by encouraging their children to pursue any path they choose without helping them get meaningful information before they make the career decision. This can result in a number of study major changes which can cost the parents $10,000 or more per redirection. A school choice based on legacy may also prove unfruitful and result in both school and curriculum changes. The older generations did not have access to the new career tools and therefore may not see the value or the need of this information for their children.

The discovery of careers where the student will find the best job matches is based in their natural competencies. These factors are now confirmed to come from their DNA. The DNA identifies just how they were put together and are the key to the attributes that should be considered when selecting a career. These characteristics can now be measured very accurately and will help light the way to rewarding careers where their greatest potential can be found. The competencies are made clearer when they are converted to job functions that can accurately define any job description. The job functions are similar to the common denominator used in adding fractions because they break jobs down into segments that are understandable. This system will allow students to "try on" a wide variety of careers without actually working in them for months or years. Testimony to this process has been confirmed by a high percentage of our workshop participants when they realized this information would have had great value in high school and college to assist them in with their career choices.

The Professionally You™ survey will identify your natural attributes and correlate them to the job functions. This process can assist you in matching careers where there is a high degree for success. The graphics of the competencies matrix and the summary worksheet will immediately capture the natural attributes and help you investigate and select the best careers where you are well equipped to succeed. The process also identifies jobs that you should avoid which is just as important as finding those with good job match.

Consider the fact that you go to doctors to find out what is wrong with your health. The doctor finds the answer and prescribes the medication or procedure that gets you back on track. It seems equally as important to get information to tell you what is right with you so good job matches can be identified before years of your life are wasted on a poor career choice.

Awareness of your best attributes and limitations is the first step in identifying and developing your Emotional Intelligence (E.Q.) which is now considered to be twice as important as both technical knowledge and IQ in determining your future success in your career. The Professionally You™ Report can begin the process of opening this door that can benefit you in your work for the rest of your life.
